February 17, 1945 Papillion NE US 68133 Retired Married 2

My husband Tony and I are both retired and have recently built our dream house in Papillion, Ne.   We are now at our 45th wedding anniverary, (as I'm updating some info).   We have two daughters and we now have two grandsons. Our oldest daughter Lydia and her husband Bob are both engineers working in the defense industry and they have our only two grandson's  Nicholas who is now 5 years old & Christopher who 2 1/2 years old.  He likes to go by "Baby Chris" not " Christopher" nor " Chris". They live in Lafayette, Co. Our youngest daughter, Lisa, is single and is a telecom engineer and lives in Corinth, Tx. A little bit of country & she loves it out there. She no longer cares for the cold winter months in Ne. Come to think of it,  we are the snow birds that migrate to the South during our winter months here and we all love it.  Tony and I spend most of our time traveling to Colorado and Texas where we enjoy the outdoors with our children.  My career was spent with the State of Nebraska Department of Labor as an employment interviewer and bilinguist.  My husband spent his career as a stationary engineer at Offut AFB.   We are so happy to be retired and are enjoying being grandparents.  Little Nicholas & Baby Chris have stolen our hearts.

September 25, 1945 Bertrand NE USA 68927 Registered Nurse/Retired Married 2
My how the time flies by, but seems like yesterday we were all at Kearney High. I have been so blessed with many wonderful years.  After graduation, I attended Immanuel Nursing School in Omaha and received my Registered Nursing degree in 1966. Jeff and I were married in Dec 1966 and lived in Kearney until he finished college. He taught mathematics and has coached girls volleyball, basketball and track for 37 years in Bertrand before retiring a few years ago. He continues to do substitute teaching. We still live in Bertrand where we have lived since 1969. We have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

Our daughter,Valerie and her husband Clark live in Geneva where she is the Doctor of Pharmacy at Fillmore County Hospital . They have 3 children, Megan is 17, Aaron is 15 and Ryan is 13. Our son, Chad lives in Lexington and is the Band director at Lexington High School and Middle School.  He and his wife Jeanna have 2 children, Isaac is 10 and Hannah is 7. We are lucky because they are all close and we get to see them often. They are our pride and joy and we are traveling all over watching them in their activities.

We have been able to travel many places all over the United States and toured Europe many years ago with the Choraleers. We have a condo in Frisco,CO and go there every summer for one week with our entire family.

I started my nursing career at the Kearney Clinic working for Dr. LR Smith for 3 1/2 years while Jeff finished college. Then I began working as an RN and continued for 40 years at Phelps Memorial Health Center with many different positions and finished my career as a Case Manager. I retired in June 2011  and have loved every minute. We are both very active in Hope Lutheran Church where I play the organ and piano. We enjoy singing in the church choir where Jeff is the director. I love to read and my hobby is planting and caring for many flower gardens in our backyard. We have 40 rose bushes and a vegetable garden too.

I have enjoyed reading about all of you and so anxious to see those of you that attend our reunion next week.

October 08, 1945 Kearney NE US 68847 Housewife Married 3

After graduating from Kearney High School I went to Kearney State College and got my degree in education and speech therapy.  Then I felt it would be fun to leave and I got my first teaching job in California.  After a year I got married to my husband who was an optometrist in the Army and we moved to North Carolina and then Denver, Colorado where I also taught.  After Dennis got out of the military we needed a place to settle and we moved back to Kearney.  Den started his practice and I went into permanent retirement.  I wasn’t sure about living in Kearney but we have been very happy here.

We have three children and six grandchildren.  They are in Washington, Oklahoma and Grand Island, NE.  I try my best to be a long distance grandma.

A year ago Dennis sold his practice and we sold our house in town and moved to our home on the Platte River close to Ft. Kearney.   We enjoy traveling are looking for some nice trip to take to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

October 02, 1945 Greeley CO USA 80634-9722 Retired Postmaster Married 2

My favorite subjects at KHS were shorthand & typing (thanks, Mrs. Shanklin & Mr. Hurt); so right after graduation, I went to business school in Omaha.  I worked for Union Pacific, got married (Bill, from Iowa), and when he was drafted, for a few years lived the mobile life of a military wife.  After his discharge, we moved to Cheyenne, WY and raised our two sons there.
After UPRR, I worked for H&R Block, Kearney State College, the Army, the Air Force, IRS, Drug Enforcement, and the U.S. Postal Service.  On my birthday in 2001, I retired.  Each month when that retirement check arrives, I can thank the Kearney schools for the start (oh so many years ago) to qualifications for my satisfying work career.
Our oldest son is a Naval Academy graduate and just started a new assignment at the Pentagon.  (Is hard to believe that he can retire in five years.)  He's a P-3 pilot, but will be deskbound for now.  He hopes to get his own command on his next assignment.  They have a daughter (10) and a son (8).
Our other son lives in Casper, WY.  He works for the District Office of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and is in charge of the District's finances. (This is our son who, while growing up, couldn't save a nickel!!)  He is proud of how well the District has fared during this economic crisis.  They have a son (6) and are expecting this Oct.
Due to the economic uncertainty, Bill postponed his retirement twice last year; maybe this Fall.  He loves his job (pilot for the US Forest Service) but we also want to do some traveling in our motorhome.  Besides the grandchildren. our main hobbies are camping & flying (I also got my license and Bill has a homebuilt airplane to finish when he retires.)  We own rental properties in Yuma, AZ, which luckily "require" at least 2 trips a year for upkeep.  Until the economy took a nose dive, our retirement plans included spending all or part of Winter in Arizona.  Hopefully next year.
P.S.  Though I live in Colorado (& love it), I tell everyone that "I bleed Nebraska red".    GO HUSKERS.       4/6/09
