Kearney NE US 68845-4003 Married 2
Time truly has flown!!  I don't really feel ready to face the last years of my life.  I am very grateful for the wonderful life that I have had and here it is in a "nutshell."
After high school I attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and earned a degree in dental hygiene and I practiced that profession for 25 years, mostly part-time.  As you know, I married my high school sweetheart, Butch Brown.  We were married a few weeks after I graduated from college.  We located in  Kearney and have been here since then.  Butch runs the family business, Brown Transfer Company.  We had 2 daughters and now have two wonderful sons-in-law and 5 amazing grandchildren.  We have been very blessed as one family lives in Denver and the other in Omaha so we are able to spend lots of time together without having to travel far.
Both Butch and I enjoy staying active both in the community and with our hobbies.  We both like golf so a lot of our free time and travel time is centered around that activity.  Butch is still working - not retired yet but I am woking on that.
I also like to read and scrapbook.  We of course spend as much time as possible with our kids.
I have been very fortunate to stay in Kearney and that has allowed me to stay in touch with a lot of you classmates as someone has to keep track of all of you.  Through the years I have had help with that from Bets and this year especially form Richard.
Hope to see you all at our next reunion!!

Bernie encouraged us to edit our profiles.  I was so "smart" in submitting my original profile - no dates, etc - that there is nothing to change in as far as information goes.
The only thing to add is that the 50th reunion was absolutely fantastic and went without any major disasters.  Thanks to the Kearney committee and to those who helped from afar, particularly Bernie and Richard and all who did calling, hosting hospitality rooms, manning registration, stuffing envelopes, decorating tables, organizing the program and all tasks that make an event go smoothly.  It was a great success and I think those of us who attended had a remarkable time.  Having the pep band preform at our banquest was an extra treat.  Thanks again to all!!

OK, Richard wins!  I will write and update the class about Steve and I.  We have lived in Texas for over 25 years now.  Colorado and New Mexico before that.  All our parents are gone now and since we have no siblings, we have pretty much settled here but with the summer approaching, it's tempting to get to a cooler environment.  However the gardening season is long here and so guess we'll stick around.  We have two sons and two grandkids with another coming in June '09.   I was active in nursing for 35 years with the last 13 years being with Planned Parenthood.  Now I am in real estate but very part time.  I am office manager as well as agent and my oldest son is my broker (Century 21)!  Other son in is Arlington, Tx with Microsoft.  Steve is very busy with economic development for our little town and has been having some nice successes.  He just returned from a one day visit to Washington DC.  Ours is a "split ticket" family which makes for some heated discussions when it's time to vote.   He is also still into cars.  He has promised me he will write to Jim Hiner and update him but the best so far is currently in the garage.  He's working on a 1937 Cord!   Will make an apt with glamor shots immediately!   Would rather you remember the slender gal I used to be.  Currently my personality is bursting out all over!  May I add my thanks to Richard for this site.  Cool Beans!!
PS We did take our dream trip last fall to Australia and New Zealand.  Now that's a whole 'nother story!  Picture driving a left hand floor shift sitting on the right hand side of the car but driving on the left side of the road in an under powered camper!

Orlando FL US 32825 Retired Married 2
Six months after graduation my girlfried broke up with me and I blew up the engine in my hot rod so I enlisted in the Navy to 'see the world'.   For the most part the world consisted of three successive deployments to Viet Nam.  However, in 1971 the Navy sent me to college and in 1975 I earned a Bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M, majoring in Physics and Mathematics. With degree in hand I subsequently was awarded a commission as a Naval Aerospace Maintenance Officer.  After returning from an initial extended tour in Japan we were stationed in Jacksonville Fl. While there I picked up a Masters degree in Industrial Management.  After a continuing succession of tours around the world I culminated 30 years of service with an assignment on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon.  I spent considerable time over on capital hill working with the Congress on the Navy's behalf and it was great insight into how things really work in DC.
Retiring from the Navy in 1993 we moved to Daytona Beach,  Florida (our 18th move) to take a position with GE Aerospace as a senior program manager.  At GE Aero which later merged with Martin Marietta and later became Lockeed Martin I managed several advanced programs for the Army, Navy, Air Force Space Command, and NASA.
I retired from Lockheed at the end of 2005 and purchased some acreage North of Orlando with the intent of becoming a retired ‘country gentleman.’   However I was lured out of retirement to take a position as President of an Industrial Engineering and Operations Research company performing work for NASA at Kennedy Space Center, Orlando International Airport, and also ‘commercial sector’ work for Disney World, Universal Studios, and others,  a change of pace and new experiences I could not pass up.  Being able to lay hands on the shuttle and standing close enough to 'feel' the launch was an amazing experience.  The commercial work with Disney and Universal Studios was also an eye opener into the behind the scenes operations.  However, I agreed to take the position for a maximum of three years, and three (and half) years later retired, as promised, once again.
I am married to the same wonderful woman (Artha Lee Green) I met in Phoenix in 1965. We has a son Steven who lives in Kissimmee and a daughter Dawn, her husband Leo, and granddaughter Mary living in Jacksonville.

Three consecutive hurricanes in 2005 convinced me to sell the acreage since according to my wife the upkeep was just to much for someone of 'my age.'  She said she meant that in a nice way.
Currently we live in Orlando I am thoroughly enjoying retirement, though I am still somewhat connected to the business world providing some ‘pro-bono’ consulting for the University of Central Florida Small Business Incubator and as a 'judge' for state wide college level 'business' oriented academic competitions.
Hobbies include designing and building stained glass windows, woodworking, and leisure travel to visit friends and family.  We recently travelled to Ireland for two weeks to visit the home of the ancestral Callinan's. More recently we traveled to Alaska.  Anchorage, Fairbanks and up the Dalton highway to Coldfoot Camp and Prudoe Bay.  While in Coldfoot we happened to meet a couple of the Stars on the TV show 'Ice Road Truckers', Phil and Tony.  We returned via a cruise ship to Vancouver.  This year the plan is a fall 'leaf peeping' trip to New England.

My very best to all Classmates, and hope to see some of you at the reunion in 2013.

Fair winds and following seas.

Mike
