January 28, 1945 Tallahassee FL United States 32309 Retired and loving it! Married 2
Retired from a 28 year stint in Human Resources, both in Kearney and Tallahassee. Left Nebraska in 1985, to become a "Southerner", without the southern drraawwll. Currently providing daycare for our grandchildren while Vikki works as a Human Resource Director for the college. Shuttlling  9 year old Emma to gymnastics  and school keeps me out of the malls.  Two year old Liam is not into shopping either.  Brett is a Media Director and V.P. for T-Mobile (Seattle).  We spent Mario's 20 birthday, (Brett's son) in Mexico this past October.  I like surfing the internet, making videos and photography, creating stained glass pieces, golfing and exercising, and best of all traveling.  I'm not certain I have enough "nerve" to upload my "now" picture....I need to think on this one!  I DID IT!

Still traveling....Brett invited me to the World Soccer Cup in Johannesburg South Africa.  Cape Town was our destination.  It was the longest flight over a body of water...so thankful we didn't run out of fuel!  The grandchildren enjoyed the Vuvuzela horn which produces a loud raucous sound!  The buzz of the Vuvuzela at the games is still ingrained in my memory!  We enjoyed native African cusine, tours, and an African Safari.  Prior to South Africa, we spend time touring NYC.  Last year we returned to our favorite place, The Grand Mayan, Playa, Mexico. Inbetween, we had a mega family reunion in Destin FL.  Where are we off to next?? Nebraska!  See you in a couple of days.  BTW Denny and I just completed a whole house remodel.  My dream of a new kitchen from top to bottom became a reality.  Oak flooring, new doors and trim throughout.  What an amazing and talented hubby!  He can't wait for our next project, I'm certain!!  Hey, this retirement thing is not so bad after all!

Scottsdale AZ USA 85266 Retired Professor Married 2

Time has flown very quickly over the past 50 years.  After high school I stayed in Kearney (Kearney State now UNK) for my Bachelor's, leaving for graduate school in Syracuse.  I spent seven years at S. U., including year in Pakistan as an intern.  I also married, and lost my father in a tragic airline accident.
In 1974, I moved to Anchorage, Alaska to take a position at the Unversity of Alaska. My wife, two small children and I settled into Alaska living.  I began my career as a Political Scientist but started teaching more Public Policy and Quantitative Methods classes, as well as directing a public policy research group.  I conducted several hundred surveys and studies for the local, state and national governments as well as political surveys during the elections.
By the mid-80's I had left Politcal Science and taught primarily stat and policy courses when the Dean of Business and Public Policy asked to begin teaching computer courses for the business majors.  So I went back to school two summers, merged a group of IS faculty into our school, hired three new faculty and got the Management Information System major started Chairing the new department.  I then designed a floor on the new business building to computerize the College.
It was a fun ride professionally, which included the Governor appointing me to AK Housing Finance Corp. Board after the oil crash which put Alaska into recession, and mayoral appointment to the management board of the Anchorage Telephone Utility.
There were bumps however with my marriage heading south and a diagnosis of Prostate Cancer.  But we all try to survive and I met a wonderful new woman, Lou, who I married in 1995, and completed a successful cancer treatment.
That wake up call led me to a take an early retirement.  After returning for three years as Chair, first Chief Information Officer and Director of Student Information, Lou and I moved to Scottsdale, Alaska to enjoy the sunshine.  We both love to travel and send a lot of time around the world though now with five grandchildren, we spend more time heading east to see them and have them visit us.  I continue to enjoy computers but my realo hobby is genealogy which I use to work with dozens of far flung distant kin to research my family.

After graduating from Kearney High, I attended Kearney State College where I received both my B.S. and M.S. in Education.  I taught school on the secondary and post-secondary levels off and on for a combined eleven years.  Five of those years were at McCook College where I taught business and English classes and served as Dean of Applied and Vocational Arts.

After a failed marriage, I moved from McCook to Denver to “start over” in 1975.  During this transitional period, I put my business background to practical use and worked for the Gates Foundation as their National Scholarship Coordinator.  It was also during this time that I married Tom Farber.

In 1977, Tom and I relocated to Kearney and started our family.  Tom is a Project Manager with the State of Nebraska Department of Roads.  We have three married children -- one son, C.J., who works from his home as Routing Coordinator for Deli-Express, and twin daughters, Jacqueline Dietz and Jennifer Modlin.  Jackie is employed at U-Save Pharmacy in Kearney as a pharmacy tech, and Jennifer works at Credit Management in Grand Island.   I was employed at Eaton Corporation for almost 21 years, before retiring from my position as Manufacturing Systems Coordinator in 2003.

Retirement is wonderful.  I enjoy golfing during the summer months and play in two leagues.  My rubber stamping and card making hobby has evolved into a part time job.  In addition to making greeting cards for a select clientele, I teach two card making classes each month at Northridge Retirement Community and do volunteer work for Good Samaritan Hospital.  Tom and I both serve on the board of directors for our dance club, and enjoy taking lessons and attending dances whenever we have the opportunity.
